Wicomico County Board of Education, District 4
Wicomico County · 2026-11-03
Two candidates have filed for the District 4 seat. Susan Beauchamp currently sits on the board for District 3 — under the old map — and is running here.
Board districts follow the county's councilmanic districts, which were redrawn for 2026 — so check which district you are in before you vote.
What this office does
The Board of Education governs Wicomico County Public Schools. It hires and evaluates the superintendent, sets system-wide policy, and adopts the school budget request that goes to the County Executive and County Council — who fund it, but do not run the schools. Members serve four-year terms.
Board seats are non-partisan: candidates appear on the ballot without a party label, and everyone in a councilmanic district votes for that district's seat regardless of their own party registration. There is no primary unless more than two people file, which is why these races do not appear in the June primary results.
Candidates
Listed alphabetically by surname. Each summary is written only from the official record and the candidate's own campaign material — never from what anyone else says about them. Other coverage is listed under each candidate and labelled by what kind of source it is.
Susan W. Beauchamp Incumbent
Non-partisan
Beauchamp was elected to the board in 2022 representing District 3 under the previous map, and is running in District 4 this year.
She has practised as an accountant since 1987, owned a bookkeeping business for seven years, and works in her family's businesses. She has taught accounting part-time at Wor-Wic Community College and previously worked in school administration in development and college counselling. She holds an accounting degree from the University of Delaware, an MBA from Salisbury University, and a theology degree from Christian Life School of Theology. She lives in Salisbury.
She was also elected to the Republican Central Committee in the June primary, with 3,677 votes. Board seats are non-partisan, but the party role is a matter of public record.
This is the board's own biography of a sitting member, not a statement of what they would do in a new term. No campaign material in their own words has been located.
Seth C. Roberts
Non-partisan
Neither of this cycle's candidate questionnaires covers this race: the Baltimore Sun and Capital Gazette's voter guide does not include Board of Education contests, and the League of Women Voters' primary guide omitted board races that had too few candidates to appear on the primary ballot. No statement of their priorities in their own words has been located.
