Candidates

Listed alphabetically by surname. Each summary is written only from the official record and the candidate's own campaign material — never from what anyone else says about them. Other coverage is listed under each candidate and labelled by what kind of source it is.

Joe Schanno

Republican

Schanno won the Republican primary with 472 votes (51.70%) to incumbent Chip Bertino's 441.

His campaign identifies affordability, water and sewer rates, public safety, county infrastructure, education, and opposition to offshore wind development as priorities. On affordability, he calls for development policies intended to expand housing while managing growth. On infrastructure, he specifically points to widening Route 589/Racetrack Road. On schools, he says he wants to preserve the fiscal health of Worcester County Public Schools and keep local decision-making authority.

His campaign also describes him as an Eagle Scout and a committee chair for Scouting America Troop 261. Worcester County records show that he has served on the county's Economic Development Advisory Board.

The policy positions above are Schanno's campaign statements, not CivicBury's assessment of their likely effects.

Vicky A. Wallace

Democratic

Wallace was unopposed in the Democratic primary and received 517 votes. The State Board of Elections lists her 2026 commissioner filing as a March 9 designation by the Democratic Central Committee.

Maryland's official state manual lists Wallace as a Worcester County Democratic Central Committee member for Commissioner District 5, with the committee term expiring in 2026.

No 2026 campaign site, questionnaire, or other first-party statement of Wallace's commissioner priorities was located in this research pass. This draft therefore stops at the documented election and public-service record rather than filling the gap from third-party descriptions.
